I went to view a house in Stourbridge for purchase. It had been up for sale (for 18 months with no sale) with this company. The agent knew little about the house and was either reluctant or unable to answer most of my questions (a pretty normal state of affairs for estate agents I find). He promised to pass my questions on to the vendor. After I chased the agent a few days later, it turned out they had had no contact with the vendor for months and now they couldn't find him! "So I guess you can't proceed with any sale then?" I asked and they agreed. Despite this, they continued to market the house for a year until it was eventually repossessed. Never use these people to sell your house.
I picked Talbots as the biggest local solicitors in Stourbridge, to handle my property purchase. They have handled the actual mechanics of the work OK. However, their communcation has been poor. The person handling my case was never available and didn't return my calls properly. Their service has been slow and they have not communicated well with the vendor's solicitors. This ultimately led to such delay that the whole transaction looked as if it would fall through. Luckily I talked directly to the vendor and we patched it up. I won't be using this company again.
There were problems when I rented from this place and I found them less than truthful with me, so I wouldn't go here again.
I rented a van from here - they have a good range from large trucks to small transits. They seemed honest enough and allowed me to change the booking later. A good place to rent a van for a day.
I rented a house with them and they failed to do an inventory properly, gave the wrong utility details, couldn't tell me their fees, failed to tell me how to pay the deposit, ran out of receipts in the office. I sat in the office listening to the staff on the phone and they're just lackadaisical dimwits. Avoid!
I got my oil changed in this place (which they did OK to be fair). While my car was out of sight, a nail was "discovered" in one of the tyres. This can be dangerous so I paid to have it removed straight away. Whether the nail was planted in the tyre I don't know, but as a precaution I would check your tyres before going here.
I rented a house through this company, but I would be wary about using them to sell. I have dealt with the partners and the office staff - they're basically honest, just not very competent. My inventory was 2 months late and they made a mistake with my rent. OK they apologised but mistakes shouldn't happen. The whole operation is being run on a shoestring budget and needs more and better-trained staff.
I wouldn't want to let out or sell a house with these people! I used them as letting agents. They were pretty slow on the paperwork to rent my place, depriving my landlady of rental income for that period. They have links with local contractors who aren't particularly good either. They took nearly 2 months to send the inventory. Otherwise they were OK - they aren't sharks, but they are quite inefficient. It appears to be a shoestring operation with rather slow staff.
I bought a mid-range car from here recently. They aren't too slick here (the car I wanted was dirty and had a flat battery when I viewed it!) but they seem to be honest and try to keep their customers. Just don't rely on them too much not to make any mistakes. They were very good at communicating with me and when the finance company screwed up the Motorworld salesman was on the phone to sort it out. The car was cleaned up, MOT'ed and given a minor service before I got it with new tyres, oil change etc. Maybe other dealers do that too, I don't know as it was my first purchase of a car from a dealer. They offer free MOT's for life after purchase and a one-year warranty. Don't buy any of the extra insurance or additional warranties they will try to sell you - you can get those cheaper elsewhere. It's a good place to buy a car if you're in that area. They list their cars on Autotrader or on their own web site.
